Security Engineer, Infrastructure Security
LiveKit United States, Canada
About the role
At LiveKit, a company developing infrastructure for voice-driven computing, the Security Engineer role is part of the Trust team focused on securing the production platform that handles sensitive audio, video, and data. The team is small and covers security, IT, and compliance, with this role owning significant parts of the security program from the start. The platform supports major clients and facilitates billions of calls annually, emphasizing the importance of robust security.
The engineer will assess and document the security posture of cloud and production infrastructure, identify vulnerabilities that could risk customer data, and prioritize remediation efforts. Responsibilities include hardening identity and network boundaries, securing tenant isolation and media storage, and embedding security guardrails into infrastructure as code. Collaboration with the Compliance team to align infrastructure controls with standards like PCI-DSS and ISO 27001 is also key, alongside automating audit evidence.
Candidates should have over five years of experience in security or infrastructure engineering, with hands-on expertise securing cloud environments and containerized workloads. Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools like Terraform and scripting languages such as Go or Python is required. The role suits pragmatic problem-solvers who can translate security risks into business priorities. Experience with real-time media, AI security, incident response, or compliance audits is advantageous. The position is fully remote in the US or Canada and offers competitive benefits and equity.
