Bandwidth operates a large-scale network infrastructure supporting voice, messaging, and emergency services used by many popular brands and applications. The Applied AI Engineer role is situated within the Corporate IT Engineering group, which manages extensive internal systems. This position focuses on integrating artificial intelligence technologies to optimize and automate internal processes, fostering a culture of teamwork and innovation as the company advances its technology stack.
The engineer will enhance existing AI tools and platforms, develop internal APIs and shared services, and create AI-driven solutions to improve infrastructure management, identity services, monitoring, and automation workflows. Responsibilities include containerizing AI workloads with Docker and Kubernetes, automating infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and Ansible, and prototyping AI applications to streamline internal operations. Keeping up with AI and MLOps trends and promoting best practices within the team are also key aspects of the role.
Ideal candidates have practical experience with large language model platforms, AI infrastructure, and programming in Python or TypeScript. Proficiency with cloud services, particularly AWS, as well as container orchestration and infrastructure-as-code tools, is essential. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach are important, along with the ability to assess AI solutions from a business perspective.
