About the role
Sarvam AI is developing a comprehensive sovereign AI platform focused on India, working with major enterprises and public institutions. The company is seeking a hands-on Staff Engineer to lead the backend systems of their conversational AI platform, Samvaad, which handles millions of personalized voice calls daily. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining scalable, reliable voice agent management systems in a fast-paced environment.
The engineer will own the entire backend lifecycle, including data modeling, API development, workflow orchestration with Temporal, and ensuring high performance and reliability. Collaboration with frontend teams and establishing a documentation-first culture are key aspects of the role. The position requires extensive experience in Python, FastAPI, distributed systems, and database optimization, with a focus on multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
Candidates should have 8-12 years of backend experience, with proven expertise in building and operating large-scale systems. Knowledge of workflow orchestration, telephony infrastructure, and AI/ML systems is advantageous. The role is based onsite in Bengaluru and involves full-time employment, emphasizing technical ownership and system excellence.
