About the role
Baseten is a company that develops an inference platform used by leading AI companies to deploy models in production. The Software Engineer in Partner Platform will work within the enterprise team, focusing on building integrations and platform capabilities that connect Baseten with partner companies like model labs and hyperscalers. The role involves collaborating with external engineering teams to design APIs, develop reusable platform components, and ensure reliable, scalable system operation.
On a day-to-day basis, the engineer will lead technical integrations from discovery through deployment, writing substantial production code and managing dependencies across teams. They will own the architecture of partner integrations, including identity, inference, and billing systems, and will be responsible for maintaining high standards of reliability and observability. The role requires a mix of software development, system design, and cross-team coordination, often working across cloud infrastructure and application code.
Candidates should have experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems, with strong API design and failure handling skills. They should be capable of translating customer or partner requests into technical solutions and be comfortable debugging across services. Experience with cloud infrastructure, API contracts, and building scalable, reliable systems is essential. Knowledge of AI infrastructure, marketplace systems, or model serving is a plus. The position is full-time, hybrid, and based in San Francisco, with opportunities to shape the future of AI platform partnerships.
