About the role
At Smallest.ai, the engineering team focuses on creating reliable, scalable infrastructure as a core product. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining cloud-based systems primarily on AWS, utilizing tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, and Argo CD. The role involves translating high-level system designs into practical, production-ready solutions, emphasizing automation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Daily tasks include deploying, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting production systems, with a strong focus on automation and reliability. The engineer will work on managing cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and supporting various backend services such as RabbitMQ, Redis, and MongoDB, ensuring systems are resilient and efficient. The role requires a proactive approach to incident management and system optimization.
Candidates should have hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Linux, and networking fundamentals, along with a mindset geared towards automation and ownership. The position values practical experience gained through startups, open-source projects, or real-world failures, rather than years of experience. The work is onsite in Bengaluru, and the role is full-time, emphasizing a culture of high responsibility, learning from failures, and building scalable, reliable systems.
