About the role
At Limbic, the AI & Research team is pioneering an AI therapist that delivers cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) via voice to patients with depression and anxiety, under clinical supervision. This product is live in the US and UK, integrating computational psychiatry, clinical science, and software engineering to provide accessible, evidence-based mental health care. The role involves working on a regulated medical device with a strong scientific foundation and real patient impact.
The AI/ML Engineer will focus on enhancing the AI therapist's session management, safety systems, and natural voice interactions. Responsibilities include developing evaluation tools, improving patient engagement through AI-driven features, and optimizing outcome measurement processes. The engineer will collaborate closely with clinicians and product managers, owning projects end to end from hypothesis to deployment, ensuring safety and efficacy in a clinical context.
Candidates should have a relevant advanced degree or equivalent experience in computational psychiatry or related fields, with strong skills in Python or TypeScript/JavaScript and experience in LLM-powered feature development. Familiarity with machine learning in production, text and longitudinal data modeling, and evidence-based mental health care is essential. The role is hybrid based in London, combining office collaboration with remote flexibility, and offers competitive benefits and a supportive, inclusive work environment.
