About the role
At Suno, a leading AI music entertainment company based in San Francisco, the Senior or Staff Full-Stack AI Engineer will join the Platform Engineering team to develop backend systems powering their AI song creation agent. This agent interprets plain-language requests to orchestrate music models and audio tools, enabling users from novices to professionals to create music. The role involves close collaboration with machine learning engineers, product managers, and other teams to build and maintain a nondeterministic system that reliably produces creative outputs.
Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and running backend services for the AI agent, developing data pipelines and evaluation frameworks to assess system performance, and creating internal tools for reviewing model outputs. The engineer will share on-call duties and support production launches, contributing to a high-traffic system that transforms ideas into music. The position requires ownership, problem-solving in ambiguous environments, and working within a small, fast-paced team focused on quality and innovation.
Candidates should have 4 to 6 years of experience building scalable backend systems, with proven expertise in deploying LLM-powered agents or features involving multi-step tool calls. Experience designing evaluation methods for nondeterministic systems is essential. Familiarity with Python backends, TypeScript/React for internal tools, and audio or media generation systems is a plus. This full-time hybrid role requires working onsite in San Francisco and eligibility to work in the US.
