About the role
Phonely is a company focused on building conversational voice AI agents that handle high-volume phone workflows such as lead qualification and appointment booking. The Founding Designer role is part of the Go-To-Market team and is based onsite in San Francisco. This position is the first design hire and involves shaping the visual identity and design systems across the brand and product as the company scales.
The designer will audit existing designs, establish cohesive branding, and create scalable design systems for consistency across customer-facing platforms. They will collaborate closely with founders and engineers, contributing not only to design but also to frontend code and implementation using AI tools like Claude. The role demands strategic thinking, independent execution, and ownership of design direction in a fast-moving startup environment.
Candidates should have at least three years of professional design experience, preferably in B2B SaaS or technology, with strong skills in UI/UX, typography, and visual hierarchy. Experience working with frontend teams and familiarity with AI-assisted development tools is valued.
